I wanted to see what potential functions the blocks had, and what activities or actions could be performed with them. I decided to construct a setting for improvised play with the blocks that I could film and observe.

I invited different sized groups of people to come and interact with the blocks, giving only simple and open-ended verbal cues such as “play with the blocks” and “use the blocks”. Once the participant had asked “how much longer” or “when should I stop?” I would stop filming. I collected a large archive of observation footage, and have edited the videos a number of times, but still have not resolved a way to show this work.
