“In Cahoots” was a residency I collaboratively ran to prompt collaboration between recent graduates in the North East.
I also took part in the residency and was paired with James Watts, an MFA BxNU graduate. We wanted to explore the physicality of sound and how to manipulate sound vibrations with vessels and tubes of different sizes and materials. We used found items from our studios and parts of musical instruments to build sound making sculptures and performed with them in the space at Hoults Yard. We responded to the sounds one another made while we were moving around the space and adapting our sculptures, and recorded and layered the performance over a few hours.
